The science of laser hair removal is rooted in targeting melanin which is the pigment in our skin cells and hair follicles. During the laser hair removal process, the melanin in hair follicles is the target to heat up and destroy to prevent any future growth.

At Quiet Waters Medical Esthetics we use the Elōs Plus by Syneron - Candela, an award-winning recognized medical device. It is a diode laser with infrared and bipolar radio frequency (RF) energy.  It is also one of very few lasers that can treat all skin tones. It is through the combination of the laser and RF energies which prevents the overheating/burning of surrounding skin tissue of darker skin tones where melanin is highly concentrated. The radio frequency energy does not see color/or melanin so it is increased while the optical laser light is  reduced to safely heat up the follicle to destroy.

For both men and women, 15%-20% hair reduction is achieved after each treatment. Hair coarseness, color and skin type all help determine the appropriate number of treatments necessary to achieve your final result.
